Song Chinese (225) vs Achaemenid Persian (64)
For the final game of the day I was up against Cameron's Persians. I was invited to defend in the plains. With the closeness of the last game with the Assyrians we went for a similar deployment with the Cavalry in the centre and the infantry on the wings. Moreover with this terrain it allowed the infantry to defend the terrain on the wings. We thrust an ambush forward in the large gully on the right.
The Army will advance and the ambush and the light infantry can defend the right flank!
Once again command issues, poor command dice, on the left prevented the left wing developing its full combat power, and to threaten the right of the Persian line. On the right we sprung the ambush from the gully and caught a Persian cavalry unit in the flank, they opted to stand and receive the charge. Meanwhile in the centre the enemy are once again winning the firefight.
Contact is made! It is in the centre that the battle will be won or lost. And at this stage there are more casualties for the Song than there are for the Persians. However we have managed to expose the Persian left, but the attempt on the Persian right has been partially thwarted when a crossbow unit was destroyed by Sparabara bow fire.
Outcome
A regrettable oversight in that I forgot to take more photos; apologies Cameron. However, the result was a close won Song victory in which we lost 21 of our 24 cohesion points. A result that halved my pain with two losses and one win for the day.
