ADLG - Game Report 144

Andalusian Arab (133) vs Vandals (94)

And so on to my second game of the day against Ian and his Vandals. This time we went for our classical infantry centre with the cavalry on the wings, on what was a sparsely covered battlefield.

I allowed the infantry command to move forward with elan, with its flanks protected by the cavalry wings.

Contact! And the Vandals managed to avoid most of the men with long pointy sticks. Although to my chagrin one of the heavy spears were ridden down by the Vandal cavalry. However, their supporting cavalry on their left are making their presence felt.

The infantry are now all in a dither as the Andalusian Cavalry have broken through and are moving into pursuit mode. The stout and brave Andalusian lights are managing to hold of a unit of Vandal Cavalry in order to prevent them from reaching the camp.

The Vandal cavalry have decided that the lights should be ridden down. Elsewhere the casualties mount as the opposing lines are broken and gaps start to appear all along the line, but it is all much to late for the Vandals.

Outcome

An Andalusian win by 21 to 26; a bloody battle.

Lessons Learnt

  • If you don’t have a fortified camp, perhaps it is important to maintain a reserve to prevent breakthroughs that threaten the camp.
